Custom Staircases & Railings
Stair Rite offers fine quality products with options to suit your style. The finest of materials are used in our custom staircases. With these quality building materials and professional craftsmanship and installations, we offer beautiful staircases with a seamless finish.
Steel and wood pickets are available. We also offer glass with special orders. Stair Rite welcomes all of your customization requests. We want to ensure that the product manufactured and installed into your home is exactly what you are looking for. There are a variety of products to choose as follows:
Newel Posts are the posts at the head or foot of the stairs that support the handrail. These posts can be different widths, made of different types of wood, and specific styles.
Please choose between 3.5″ and 4.5″ for the width. Large posts are available upon request. Choices of wood are Maple, Red Oak, or you can tick Other and another wood option can be discussed with you. There are eight post styles to choose from as shown below:
The Handrail or Bannister can be made of wood or metal. Handrails can be attached to the newel posts or can be attached to the wall. Creating either a free standing handrail or a wall rail. If requesting a quote, please indicate the style of the handrail, whether you would need a free standing handrail or a wall rail, and also what material is to be used. We deal mainly with wooden handrails, as seen below, but specific metal handrails can be custom ordered.
The Railing System i.e. Balusters, Pickets or Spindles are slender vertical posts between newel posts. They are often in sets, and are used to support the handrail. They can be rounded, square or decorative. The type of material used for these can be wood or metal. They can be chamfered or flutted (as shown below).
In a railing system, balusters (also called spindles or pickets) fill the space between newel posts and the handrail, providing support and closing the gap. Glass is also available upon request. If your choice is metal rather than wood or glass please let us know what you need for base collars or shoes as shown below.
Metal balusters can be straight or can contain what is called a knuckle. The knuckle can be round, square, or double square. Please view the image below and the catalogue for the full selection available to you. Shoes are horizontal pieces that sit at the base of balusters, where a staircase meets the landing. They act as decorative trim pieces as shown below or check out the FULL CATALOGUE SELECTION :
Hardware means the metal brackets securing the posts and balusters. There is a choice of bracket type i.e. brass, silver or black as shown below:
